Katherine Dunneback is a proud product of public education and comes from a family of public school teachers. She grew up downstate and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in speech and hearing science and related disorders.

In her 22-year career working as a speech-language pathologist, Katherine has worked in public, private, city, suburban, and downstate schools and pediatric clinics. She’s been a staff member, union leader, parent, and advocate in a variety of school and clinical settings.

She and her husband Brian live in the neighborhood of Morgan Park and have raised twin boys both with educational needs met through IEPs, giving her experience with the special education system as both a parent and a practitioner. She sees the role of Chicago Public School Board member as the next step in a career spent putting children and families first.
